PR & Business Development Manager

SPARK is looking for a PR-minded individual to join our business development efforts. Why PR? Because we don’t take a sales-first approach to our new business efforts. We require someone who will passionately share our story and build relationships that turn into long-term partnerships. You are the face of the company with prospects and the press. You live to tell our stories and share our successes with passion. You collaborate with agency leadership in our San Diego office to ensure our work gets the recognition it deserves and our team gets the client opportunities they’re after. All in all? The Basics

3-5 years agency or PR experience
PR background preferred
New Business process participation
Excellent communicator: content writing (provide samples), presentation skills, and empathetic listener

New Business

  • Manage and vet incoming sales inquiries
  • Manage Winmo platform to proactively identify and manage outreach to potential clients
  • Lead the creation of proposals for new business inquiries while collaborating with teams when needed
  • Participate in preparation for and completion of new business pitch presentations
  • Manage transition of prospects to client on-boarding with agency teams


  • Maintain and optimize existing sales & marketing plan in collaboration with agency leadership
  • Project manage relevant  SPARK marketing efforts & provide weekly status updates to team
  • Partner with media team in management of vertical marketing campaigns
  • Monitor and report on marketing performance analytics on a monthly basis
  • Assess new marketing platforms and provide recommendations for integration
  • Review and maintain all marketing collateral, case studies and sales materials
  • Manage website content to ensure up-to-date storytelling


  • Manage awards submission calendar, budgets and ensure timely submittal
  • Work with Partners and Directors to develop thought leadership content
  • Manage monthly audit of agency projects to identify PR, award, case studies or thought leadership opportunities
  • Develop monthly PR opportunity content calendar and manage press outreach efforts
  • Collaborate with operations and integrated teams to develop content as needed

Experience & Qualities:

  • 3-5 years agency or PR experience
  • PR background preferred
  • New Business process participation
  • Excellent communicator: content writing (provide samples, presentation skills, and empathetic listener
  • Strong visual communicator (keynote/powerpoint)
  • Relationship-builder
  • Proactive self-starter who is a balance of decisive and collaborative
  • Curious and passionate about research and discovery
  • Excellent time manager who is a resourceful problem solver
  • Resilient in the face of challenges and uncertainty
