HR Manager

As SPARK’s HR Manager you’re responsible for progressing the growth of SPARK’s most valuable assets—our people—by recruiting & growing our current (and future) talent. You have a knack for communication with a variety of talent types, a resourceful approach to talent identification, and have a passion for human resources. You are a proactive self-starter, who anticipates the needs of others and understands how to support internal team needs, while building relationships both internally and externally. You masterfully (and flexibly) balance internal culture initiatives, drive recruitment efforts, support leadership needs, and help us celebrate the success of our people along the way. Your core focus is to ensure that SPARK has programs, resources, and policies in place to provide employee happiness, meaningful individual and team growth, while setting everyone up for success.

The Basics

4-7 years of experience in Human Resources management
Excellent communication skills including active listening, written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to rally and delegate
Collaborative thought partner to colleagues and leaders

Talent Recruitment

  • Proactively works with hiring managers to identify staffing needs
  • Supports recruitment process by posting job ads, screening applicants, and scheduling interviews
  • Maintains recruitment spending budget and reporting as needed
  • Leads the on/off-boarding process of employees including coordination of on-boarding documentation, communication, scheduling of training, creating/closing of software and benefit accounts
  • Ensures scheduling of on-boarding check-ins, including 30/60/90 day reviews by managers
  • Proactively builds a pipeline of talent by conducting outreach and information interviews for key positions

Talent Development & Recognition Management

  • Oversees talent management software and employee growth platform
  • Schedules peer and manager reviews proactively
  • Ensures development and maintenance of employee growth plans
  • Proactively meets with individual staff for growth & development check-ins to identify proactive training opportunities or needs
  • Manages training budget for all staff and makes recommendations to leadership about specific staff investments
  • Makes recommendations to leadership on staff raises, bonuses, and rewards as needed
  • Supports Agency leadership in nomination of employees for core value/recognition awards, employee anniversary recognition events and contribution celebrations/acknowledgements

Benefits Management

  • Ensures timely and accurate enrollment of all staff into selected benefits
  • Manages relationships with insurance and benefits reps to ensure up-to-date policy approvals and communication disbursement to staff on an ongoing basis
  • Approves and partners with Operations Director to track PTO requests, maternity/paternity/bereavement and sick leave

HR Practice Management

  • Reviews and maintains agency’s HR related policies and procedures, including employee/HR documents agency-wide, on-boarding process, employee document collection and retention, regulatory compliance, and other HR-related duties
  • Ensures SPARK is in compliance with all state-by-state benefit and reporting requirements as it relates to HR practices
  • Conducts outreach to agency partners, including legal counsel, as it relates to HR-related matters that cannot be handled with in-house resources or expertise

Client Resourcing Support

  • Works with project management team to ensure client accounts are effectively resourced with the right talent
  • Determines whether staff should be reassigned or re-evaluated to meet the needs of the agency business priorities as client workloads shift
  • Regularly conducts client audits to gauge customer satisfaction and areas of opportunity for the agency to improve in how it serves our client partners
  • Supports agency expansion and new business efforts by identifying potential resourcing needs and strategies for agency growth to deliver against sales opportunities

Experience & Qualifications

  • 4-7 years of experience in Human Resources management
  • Excellent communication skills including active listening, written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to rally and delegate

  • Ability to operate in a highly confidential manner as it relates to sensitive employee information
  • Thoughtful and effective planner, with the ability to communicate process requirements to both leaders and colleagues
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to execute effectively against deadlines and budgets
  • Inquisitive and resourceful
  • Strong organizational, time management, decision-making and problem-solving skills
