Social Creative Director

The role of the Social Creative Director to lead the team towards big ideas, innovative executions and new social opportunities for social organic content, social activations, and paid campaigns. The expectation is that we’ll help our clients think beyond monthly content needs to embrace earned media moments or on-going series ideas. Our Social Creative Director’s mission is to elevate our social work by exploring new ways to leverage social media and reinventing old ones to make people stop scrolling and start engaging. This leader should balance client strategy and ideation with the mentorship and management of the team- encouraging them to challenge themselves and our teams to expand their social ideas, and maintain an inspired outlook amidst a high volume of content creation.

8+ years in social content role within an Agency environment
Experience managing a team

Social Content Creation

  • Identify insights & opportunities to elevate social content 
  • Contribute to monthly calendars as support to the social creative team
  • Concept and contribute the big ideas to exceed client expectations
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Social Director and Creative Directors to ensure connection between campaign and social work / efforts

Social Content Creation Oversight & Management:

  • Own and drive social content production forward keeping team on track based on Project Manager’s timelines
  • Provide feedback to Social ACDs, Social Art Directors, and Social Copywriters that help them elevate individual pieces of content while learning long term best practices of social creative
  • Actively monitor the progress of a project, align deliverables and hours against provided expectations
  • Address opportunities with Project Managers to leverage creative staff to execute specialized content when needed

Big Social Idea / Platform Development

  • Utilize your social landscape knowledge combined with client/brand awareness to develop larger social programs or activations that go beyond individual social posts
  • Lead & develop the overarching idea presentation in collaboration with other team members
  • Present these idea(s) with client teams to help increase our social scope
  • Explore new ways to leverage social to create larger campaign opportunities and extensions

Client Communications

  • Lead development of structure and creative approach to client presentations and pitches. Translate technical approach and process to clients & production partners.
  • Lead in conjunction with Social Director and strategists to pitch and present to clients
  • Establish collaborative partnerships with key client staff
  • Support Brand Managers and Social Media Managers with client communications and creative POVs as necessary

Team Development

  • Ensure creative excellence through balance of great creative and financial gain for all accounts
  • Lead/Manage growth of 4-5 direct reports within the creative team
  • Conduct 1 on 1’s, annual reviews, and regular check-ins with team members to ensure employee development, support, and wellbeing
  • Provide active mentorship for staff and support development of social creative team

Team Development

  • Experiment with leadership on smaller projects
  • Help mentor and develop more junior team members

Social Strategy & Client Pillar Support

  • Provide feedback and inspiration to Social Strategy team members that will help ensure strong creative executions
  • Collaborate with the Social, Brand and Social Creative team members on social content pillars for each client to ensure focus, alignment, and direction throughout the year

Experience

  • 8+ years in social content role within an Agency environment
  • Experience managing a team
  • Award-winning social portfolio with National clients
  • Experience concepting and executing large scale earned social media stunts, platforms, campaigns
  • Understanding of design principles for type, shape, color, and photography
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Cloud (AI, ID, PS)
  • Expert in Canva
  • Expert in Social in-platform editing tools
  • Working knowledge of video editing programs
  • Expert of presentation editor programs (Pages, Keynote, Slides)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or similar
