Director/DP

SPARK is seeking a Studio Director/DP to manage and oversee all aspects of our production team for both our Tampa and San Diego offices. As the Studio Director your role is to galvanize teams across disciplines to tell stories that move people to act. You lead teams to the highest quality video, photography or audio product regardless of client budget. You are passionate about mentoring, growing and leading teams of top talent including shooters, editors, producers and motion designers. From creative concept to finished piece, you embrace collaboration at all stages and foster a culture of open, solutions-oriented communication for optimal outcomes. Maintain cooperative disposition while balancing creative needs with business strategy and fiscal responsibility.

The Basics

Minimum 5 year experience with videography and editing.
Extensive knowledge of broadcast production and run and gun production
Experience with digital technology and editing software packages (ie. Premiere, After Effects, Lumetri Color, Final Cut)
Extensive knowledge of cinema camera operation (ie. RED Cinema, Sony, Canon, ARRI)

Studio Direction

  • Works collaboratively with creative team to develop concepts for tv spots, video and still content
  • Proactively contributes conceptual and executional ideas to improve quality of end product
  • Gains context of the client needs and provides appropriate estimate to solve client ask
  • Develops a high level story/mood board and collaborates with creative team to refine
  • Actively contributes ideas in pre-pro to elevate the creative outcome and client objectives
  • Elevates the product and pushes toward national caliber work on the shoot
  • Actively contributes ideas during the edit process to elevate the creative and client outcomes
  • Embraces internal revisions with positive attitude and brings proactive solutions or recommendations
  • Embraces client revisions with positive attitude and brings proactive solutions or recommendations
  • Proactively dedicates time to grow studio staff in areas that need improvement or foster areas of strength
  • Actively shares new filming techniques, style inspiration and reference visuals to inspire creative team leads
  • Produce mood, tone, and treatment documents

High Level Story Creation

  • Collaborate with creative and brand teams to understand both the concept and client business objectives
  • Proactively deliver to Concept Treatments based on creative concepts, and work with creative teams to refine
  • Provides multiple solutions for highest quality outcomes within client budgets

Production Leadership

  • Ensure sourcing of casting, locations, wardrobes and props meet creative and budget criteria
  • Ensure quality assurance vetting and necessity of of all crew for production
  • Review and approves all production binders in collaboration with creative and brand teams to ensure alignment
  • Direct large shoots to ensure agency and client vision is met
  • Oversees all studio edits at every stage and revision round and foster a collaborative edit culture with creative team

Experience & Qualities

  • Minimum 5 year experience with videography and editing.
  • Extensive knowledge of broadcast production and run and gun production
  • Experience with digital technology and editing software packages (ie. Premiere, After Effects, Lumetri Color, Final Cut)
  • Extensive knowledge of cinema camera operation (ie. RED Cinema, Sony, Canon, ARRI)
  • Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
  • Extensive knowledge of in-studio and environmental lighting
  • Ability to genuinely collaborate with all departments within the agency is critical.
