Creative Studio Director

As the Creative Studio Director you are the communications hub for your team, working with creative directors and your team of studio production specialist to deliver effective, quality work that meets client objectives. You are the strategic drivers for the creative process to ensure that Studio projects are delivered on time, on budget, and on brief. You champion collaboration and drive the entire studio production process, from consulting on creative concepts to resourcing and outsourcing, production, and asset delivery.

7+ years of experience as a director of production, or studio director with background in content creation.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting to lead up our Content Studio team and to collaborate with top creative talent. You will be responsible for leadership, strategic vision, process improvement, and mentorship of Shooters, Editors, Motion Designers, Producers and Audio to insure best-in-class photo and videos is brought to life. This role requires a mixture of business understanding, creativity, and thorough knowledge of studio production to foster creative and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Impact our business growth by overseeing the execution of both premium and fast social content
  • Lead the Studio’s continued growth & evolution, raising the creative bar, and delivering commercially relevant imagery
  • Ensure consistent adherence to Brand quality guidelines & standards for styling, photography & re-touching, no matter where the imagery is shot
  • Regular assessment of studio operations to identify areas of improvement / efficiencies in day-to-day workflow
  • Promote and pursue innovation, bringing new ideas to the table to push creative and enhance efficiencies without sacrificing quality
  • Monthly reporting to leadership on key activities driving cost & productivity levels
  • Oversee Procedures to ensure regular maintenance of all hardware, software, and general studio upkeep – including but not limited to equipment maintenance, backups, and file management
  • Work closely with our Creative Director to find opportunities to standardize production methods and improve the production process.
  • Manage and own studio production vendor relationships and leverage your extensive network of vendors and freelance talent across different sectors.
  • Establishes and ensures adherence to company defined best practices for content creation processes, including file naming structure, efficient production to post production workflows, file versioning, review processes, and end of job processes.
  • Set up systems and processes so that the studio and the wider agency are aware of how the creative studio operates.
  • Oversee on premise and remote editorial support needs and implement remote editorial collaboration workflows/tools.
  • Work with project managers and Operations Director on studio work schedule, traffic, resourcing, scope of work budget and new project requests.

You Are

  • A driven creative leader who is passionate about creating quality compelling content.
  • An expert in the craft of video and photography and well-versed in the business of image making.
  • Exceptionally organized and able to coordinate multiple shoots at different stages of development.
  • A self-starter with excellent problem solving skills and the ability to prioritize and drive results in a fast paced environment with shifting deadlines.
  • Highly process focused with the ability to own and drive the roadmap with internal and external teams.
  • Deeply curious and constantly staying abreast of new production technologies.

You Have

  • 7+ years of experience as a director of production, or studio director with background in content creation.
  • Extensive leadership experience in Photo Studio Production process – with a keen eye for Creative, Styling, Photography & Retouching practices
  • Proven people leadership with a talent for hiring, mentoring and empowering individuals.
  • A strong understanding of visual storytelling and production with a background in video & photo production.
  • Extensive understanding of multiple mediums including digital, video, TV, print, etc.
  • The ability to multitask and meet deadlines, while paying attention to details and executing flawlessly.
  • Experience negotiating contracts with creative talent and vendors.
  • Experience managing a team and collaborating across multiple disciplines and areas of expertise.
  • Enthusiastic, positive energy and able to work well under pressure
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Software
