When Product Truth Becomes the Creative Idea

The craft beer category isn’t as easy as it once was. Consumers today have more beverage choices than ever, from canned cocktails and hard seltzers to non-alcoholic alternatives and functional drinks. At the same time, craft beer sales have continued to face pressure, with the Brewers Association reporting a 4% decline in craft brewer volume sales in 2025.

For iconic brands like Monster Beverage’s Cigar City Brewing and its flagship Jai Alai IPA, the challenge wasn’t just staying visible. It was reminding people why their beer stands apart for boldness and balance, in a category that is defined by trends and novelty.

That’s what led to “Find Your Balance.”

Built around Jai Alai’s core truth, the campaign embraces the reality that people are often trying to balance being more than one thing at once. Jai Alai’s bold, citrusty beer is the perfect pairing for any extreme. One moment you’re taking a business call while skydiving. The next you’re peacefully sitting in a bubble bath. One second you’re aggressively attacking the back 9 like it’s the Masters. Next, you’re quietly fishing at sunset.

The campaign intentionally swings between chaos and calm because that tension is exactly what modern life feels like. And honestly, it gave us permission to make something a little weird.

To bring the concept of bold and balanced to life, it required a balance between practical shooting and AI rendering. SPARK partnered with Grain and Glass to create a hybrid production approach that blended traditional live-action filmmaking with AI-generated visual storytelling. The surreal nature of the idea actually became part of the creative advantage, allowing us to create moments that would have been impossible, impractical, or wildly inefficient to produce traditionally alone.

But the goal was never to use AI for the sake of using AI. The goal was to create something entertaining enough to earn attention in social feeds while still feeling grounded in the brand’s personality: bold, approachable, energetic, and fun.

What made the process especially rewarding was the collaboration itself. The best creative partnerships happen when teams stop thinking about who owns which part of the process and focus instead on building the best possible outcome together. That mindset became critical on a project where creative, production, post, and emerging technology all needed to move in sync.

The result is a campaign that feels intentionally a little over-the-top, but still unmistakably Jai Alai. Bold. Citrusy. Beer.
